I am an assistant professor and the distance education coordinator in the Department of Food, Bioprocessing & Nutrition Sciences.
My current activities include coordinating and teaching a distance education Food Safety Certificate Series, the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) on distance education and instructional technologies, and continuing education program development. My specific scholarly interests include the following:
- Assessing the effectiveness of various teaching methods and instructional design
- Determining and fulfilling the education and training needs of society and the workforce in the areas of food safety and quality assurance
- Determining faculty perceptions and motivations for enhancing their courses and development distance education programs
All three of my degrees are in Food Science. My studies began at the University of Idaho, which led to Purdue University and most recently North Carolina State University. Throughout my student days I enjoyed numerous quality assurance and research and development jobs and internships in industry with companies such as Nestle, General Mills, Heinz, SYSCO Foodservices, Schreiber Foods, and Kraft Oscar Mayer.
